About Phi Mu
Phi Mu was founded in 1852 at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, the first college chartered to grant degrees to women. Originally founded as the Philomathean Society, a literary club, we are the second-oldest sorority in the nation. For nearly 175 years, Phi Mu has provided social opportunities, a support network and personal enrichment resources to the nearly 200,000 women who have joined our sisterhood.
Our Mission
Founded in 1852, Phi Mu is a women’s organization which provides personal and academic development, service to others, commitment to excellence and lifelong friendship through a shared tradition. Phi Mu encourages members to care for each other, lead confidently and achieve their personal best, at every stage of life.
